George Lucas... A True American

So apparently George Lucas and 39 of Americas other rich people are giving 50 % of their money to charity. THE FULL STORY HERE

I just want to say to people who hate George Lucas because of the prequels that it is not a reason to hate him, Hell I love the guy for creating the most important movies of my life. Lucas made the Star Wars Legacy and even though he didn't necessarily direct or write Empire or Jedi he was the driving force behind those great movies, so if your hating on him for the prequels just look back and remember where it started and who started it.

Avengers Teaser

What A Bluray/DVD Should Be Like

If you're like me then you already bought the Bluray or DVD of KICK-ASS and watched every ounce of what it has to offer (excluding commentaries, that takes a couple hours). I for one think this is a perfect example of what should be done for most movies (especially comic book movies) when they have a Bluray release. KICK-ASS is packed with video segments such as a feature length making of, a look at comic to film, and trailers, it also includes art from all points in the production of the movie from John Romita J.R.'s art to production stills of the cast and crew.

What I enjoyed the most was the Making Of feature, it was all encompassing and when I say that I mean it they recorded a movie of a group of people making a movie called KICK-ASS and it is fucking hilarious and awesome as shit! I own a lot of movies (lost count after around 700) and I have to say THIS Bluray blows 95% of my collection out of the water. All Im really trying to convey with this post is that Im tired of the movie studios and whoever else is in charge taking the easy route and not offering any special features with the retail release of their movies. A GREAT example is Mr. George Lucas, now as much as LOVE Star Wars I have to say I am very disappointed in George for his sheer greediness.

ONE Lucas is sitting on rooms full of unreleased content from deleted scenes to audition tapes.
TWO He has released so many versions of the original Star Wars films and barely included a thing.
THREE I know it and you know it, he's just waiting to release everything on one GIANT ass set costing over $150 (prob over $200) and not giving us a choice but to rebuy them all again.
The part that pisses me off is IT WORKS

Any way just BUY KICK-ASS because its a DAMN good movie and a fucking GREAT Bluray!

Save the Lars Homestead

SPAZOTRON and JIMSMASH!!! have posted this on their blogs and as a lifelong fan of Star Wars I shall do the same. I know these are hard times but if you have $5 dollars to spare put it towards a good cause... what, oil spill? what are you talking about? NO, save the home luke grew up in damn it!

PLEASE REBLOG:
The original Lars homestead as it stands today in the Tunisia desert.  If nobody intervenes, the structure will be destroyed by nature and lost forever.  Luckily, a group of truly dedicated fans have started a website called savetheigloo.info.  A complete restoration of it can be accomplished for a mere $3000.  They’ve already raised $900, and I myself just donated $5 this morning (measly I know, but it’s all I can afford for the time being).  Please check out the site and consider donating.  It’s always been a dream of mine to make it out to the Tunisia desert, and I will be truly devastated if the homestead is in ruins before I can make it.  You can also join the group on facebook here.

This could have all been avoided if Luke Cleaned his damn room.

New Thor Pic

Though I am happy with casting Im a little disappointed with the costumes not looking battle worn and simply looking like plastic. Im also not a huge fan of them not using the helmets, I mean why the hell not you in Norse mythology the characters are practically Vikings. (Vikings did wear helmets... rite?)

Top Ten Tuesdays: My Most Anticipated Movies for 2010

10. The Last Exorcism

I do not know much about this movie but Eli Roth is presenting it and the poster is pretty sick so I will be looking out for this one.
9. The Last Air Bender

I never really watched the TV show on Nickelodeon but from what I do know about the source material this isn't going to be anything like M. Night's previous movie.... This could be a good thing.

8. Machete

Based on one of the Grind House trailers This movie is going to chop our asses off and put 'em on our heads.
7. Expendables

The wait is almost over to see the best action movie cast in cinematic history since Predator. The Expendables is bringing Arnold and Sly together for the first time ever on the silver screen and it looks like this film is going to blow our 80's nostalgia load.
6. [Rec] 2

The sequel to the decades best horror movie is just around the corner. I for one can not wait to see what is done with this sequel, I don't think this could be as good as the first film but I hope they prove me wrong.
5.Predators

I was always a huge Predator fan, hell it's the second best action movie of all time (T2: Judgement Day is #1) I just hope that this movie could take the first one and stick to the same tone and feel while also making it a movie that can stand on its own.
4. Splice

When I first saw the trailer to District 9 I thought "Damn that movie is going to be a rare gem in a sea of shitty movies." I felt the same exact way when I saw the trailer to splice. It looks like an original film and I hope that it lives up to my high expectations like last time.
3. Scott Pilgrim VS. The World

If your read Scott Pilgrim before you know how good this movie is going to be. Its a rediculas story with a crazy cast of characters you take that and mix it with the makers of Shaun of the Dead you cant go wrong.

2. Inception

Leo, Nolan, strange ass story with loads of visual candy.... Its going to be in the run for an Oscar.

1. Tron: Legacy

Tron kicked 80's sci fi ass, now Flynn has upgraded his program were about to see what has happened in the world of Tron since Flynn last entered the computer program. I just want to see some LIGHT BIKES!

The New TMNT

This is possibly what the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the 2012 live action movie will look like. I for one think it looks cool as hell and I hope these bad ass turtles use there damn weapons this time. Theres more about how this may work HERE.

Avatar Blueray Review ( FUCK YOU JIM)

I was supposed to do this on thursday when I bought the movie but to be honest I was too lazy, so now that I'm getting to it I want to start by saying Avatar was a great movie I think its a little over rated but still a good movie. The Blue-ray on the other hand is a testament to GREED. I bought the movie for 22.99 plus tax at "Best Buy" and after I bought it I was looking at the back and I noticed they didn't list any special features... I thought "wait this is either done like this for ascetic reasons or this blueray actually doesn't have one special feature." I even took off the card stock sleeve and checked the plastic case itself but no not one special feature. I wouldn't be so pissed if this was a movie from the 80's or even the 90's hell if I was buying Throw Mama From The Train I wouldn't give two shits but this is Avatar. This movie made an estimated $2,713,395,000  worldwide and we don't get ONE special feature its a crime. I used to love Jim Camron for making great action packed movies but now I think he's a money grubbing cheap whore. I mean how greedy is that he makes that much money and he makes a bullshit blueray release  just so he can get more money and in the future Camron's going to release another version of the film in theaters with more footage, and after that he's going to rerelease the Blueray with the new footage and the special features, and if that wasn't enough there is the ultimate 3D version of the movie where you have to buy a new TV and blueray 3D player to watch it. Camron is a GREEDY piece of shit his ex wife's movie was ten times better and more deserving of the money than his unoriginal Avatar money maker. Oh yeah and I forgot Camron is also planning a sequel.... I wonder why.

Kick-Ass Kicked Ass (sorry I had to say it)

So I saw Kick-Ass last night and I have to say GOD DAMN! That movie definitely hits on on my top five favorite comic book movies of all time and its probably the most faithful adaptation of all the comic book movies. Now that you know how much I liked the movie let me rewind a bit to a time when i was first picking the first few issues up on a monthly basis.
Before the the mini series was even done we all started hearing it was already being made into a movie and those of us who read Kick-Ass and love Mark Millar's writing were extremely excited. I do remember being a little disappointed when i heard Nick Cage was playing Big Daddy and Christopher Mintz-Plasse was to play Red Mist but when I saw the first trailer and the clip of Big Daddy shooting his daughter Mindy all my doubts were gone. I liked how they used Red Mist in the movie I feel like he was a deeper character than in the comic I was just not a huge fan of the costume. As for Big Daddy I actually think this is one of Nick Cage's best roles in his career he makes you laugh and he makes you care about Big Daddy even a little more than in the comic. Cage successfully pulls off the whole loving father thing even though he is having his daughter murder mass amounts of people. At one point in the movie when he is talking to his old partner you can see the pain he's feeling especially when his partner states that he is stealing Mindy's childhood away from her and Cage replies "Frank D'Amico stole her childhood from her!" Not only did cage surprise me but so did Aaron Johnston, up until the casting started for Kick-Ass I never heard of him and yet when I saw him as Dave (Kick-Ass) I was convinced there could be no other actor better for this part. Another actor I never herd of was Chloe Moretz and she stole the show when she was murdering and swearing at all the scum in the movie, it was absolutely hilarious.
Overall Id give Kick-Ass a 5 out of 5 I really Enjoyed it. The movie had a solid story that was fresh and original, the cast was perfect, the action was both intense and funny at times, and to date its the most faithful comic book movie out there.
Verdict: 5 out of 5

Merchandise Mondays

The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (Theatrical Editions)

If you ask me I think it is a bad idea to buy this box set because it does NOT include the extended versions of the movies which is bullshit because Blu-ray can defiantly handle both versions on one disc. The studio is just trying to make money and I don't suggest you support them. Just wait until the full version of these films come out and save yourself some dough.
